SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Betty Susan “Sue” Shall, 79, of
Shinglehouse, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020, at the David Simpson
Hospice House, Cleveland, Ohio, after a long illness.
Born on Friday, April 18, 1941 in Olean, N.Y, she was a daughter
of Harold and Rena Lovell Thomas of Port Allegany, On September 23, 1972 in Genesee, she married
Jeffrey A. Shall, who passed away on October 17, 2011. The light of their lives was their son,
Christopher.
Sue graduated from Port Allegany High School, Class of 1959 and
from Lock Haven University in 1963. She
began her teaching career in Bradford, then moved to Shinglehouse where she
taught women’s physical education in the Oswayo Valley school system. Having been an outstanding athlete in her
earlier years, this assignment proved to be very successful. For many years, she served as a student aide,
also in Shinglehouse.
Sue was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Shinglehouse, where
she was the organist for many years. She
enjoyed the gardening of early spring flowers planted in her backyard
garden. She was an avid reader, sitting
quietly in her reclining chair daily.
She loved to watch Tom Brady and other sports figures on TV.
Surviving are a brother, Robert (Heather) Thomas of Perry, Ohio;
a brother-in-law, Michael (Beth) Shall of Oswayo; and two sisters-in-law, Susie
(Bucky) Amidon of Oswayo and Gina Shall of Frankfort, Kentucky. She loved her many nieces and nephews and
their families: Tracey (Dale Peters of Clarence, N.Y., Shannon Thomas of Huron, Ohio, Eric
(Elizabeth) Thomas of Holly Springs, NC, Matthew (Yvonne) Shall of Smethport,
Mandy (Derek) Haynes of Portville, N.Y., Denise (Bill) Gerski of Wellsboro,
David Potter of Oregon, Tony (Sue) Shall of Jacksonville, Florida, Troy (Marci)
Shall of Clarion, Heather (Robert) Wargo of Coudersport, Holly Shall of San
Diego, California, Stephanie Amidon of Williamsport, Kara Amidon of
Coudersport, Trisha Amidon of Jamestown, and Mark Amidon of Shinglehouse. In addition there were many friends in and
around Shinglehouse who have been a significant part of her life, with a very
special mention of Cynthia and Steve Bell, Laura Quinn, and Debbie Tarbell.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was predeceased by
her beloved son, Christopher Shall who passed away on April 21, 1996; a
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Bonnie Shall; and a nephew, Lucas
Shall, who passed away on August 6, 2004.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, private graveside funeral
services will be held in Wells Cemetery in Oswayo with the Rev. Thomas Brown,
pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse, officiating.

Church, PO Box 277, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to the Chris Shall Memorial
Scholarship, 393 West Main Street, Oswayo, PA 16915.
Sue’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury,
funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
