Wellsville: Health care worker asks Rep. Reed 'what aid is available for local, independent doctor'

The following letter is being sent to Rep. Tom Reed and was submitted to WRN for publication.

Hon. Tom Reed:
I recently read a news article that Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville will be receiving funding for its payroll program. Congressman, what aid is available for a private provider in Wellsville who, I can say is the only Family Practitioner that is not owned by the local hospital? This solo practitioner treats his own patients when they are in the hospital and yet he doesn't benefit from this funding. How does he remain in practice and provide medical care to his/her patients when he can barely stay afloat? Now with this pandemic, you are lucky if you can get a patient to come into the office, as they are afraid of going out of their house.  An application was submitted to a local bank and it was denied, since the lender ran out of funding and didn't know if any more would be forthcoming.  What about the little guy, Mr. Reed, who may not have a practice in the near future? How can he be helped? A community depends on it.

Sincerely,
Deb Glass
