NY schools to remain closed until April 29, 2020

Albany, N.Y. — Schools and nonessential businesses in New York will remain closed until at least April 29, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said today.
Cuomo had initially implemented the closures at the end of March and later extended them until April 15. The moves are meant to help slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
There is at least some evidence that the measures are working, Cuomo said during a press briefing in Albany. New deaths in the state have been flattening in the last few days and new hospitalizations have been declining since last week.
