Born in Buffalo, October 20, 1928, the daughter of Harry and Viola (Van Orman) Ide, she was a graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School “Class of 1948”. She had worked as a Telephone operator from 1950-53, Westinghouse in Bath from 1953-57, Ide’s Grocery in Alfred from 1966-72. From 1972-76 she co-owned Almond Mobil Gas Station with her late husband Bobbie Jay, and retired from Key Bank in Alfred, where she worked from 1977-1991. She was also a foster grandparent at Bryant School for over 5 years, and was a long time member of the Almond Union of Churches, the Almond Historical Society, the Eastern Star, and was the treasurer of the Tenant’s Association at Sawyer Street Site in Hornell.
She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Michael Daniels, her second husband Bobbie G. Jay, her brother John Ide, 3 sisters Shirley Sisson, Phyllis Drake, Janice “Patty” Fairchild, her sister in laws Dorothy Ide, Vicky Ide, her son in law John Fairbrother, a grandson John Lawrence, a great granddaughter Leah Edlind, and a niece Aimee Ide.
She is survived by her 3 daughters Carol (Bob Northrup) Fairbrother of Prattsburgh, Karen (David) Porter of Almond, Jody (Robert) Andrus of Canisteo, her brother Bill Ide of Canisteo, her brother in law Ray Sisson of Batavia, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will host a celebration of life at a later date, and burial will be at Almond Woodlawn Cemetery.
