Frederic B. Edwards, 66, of 27 Orchard Street, Cuba, passed
away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Cuba Memorial Hospital after a lengthy
illness.
Born on December 17, 1951, in Cuba, he was a son of Gerald
R. and Dora M. Travis Edwards. On June
2, 1972, in Cuba, he married the former Elizabeth L. “Betty” Sprague who
survives.
Fred was a 1970 graduate of Cuba Central School and later
graduated from Lock Haven University with a bachelor’s degree in Physical
Education.
For several years he taught physical education in
Elizabethtown Pennsylvania. He later
worked for Roadway Express in Hagerstown Maryland. Returning to Cuba in 1983, he began working as
the trucking, shipping, and warehouse manager for Farnsworth Cookies. He then was employed by Tim Resch at Crown-Y
Recycling in Cuba retiring in 2012.
He was active in the Cuba Youth Football and Cuba Little
League as a coach for many years. Fred
enjoyed playing the guitar.In addition to his wife, Betty he is survived by
three sons, Scott (Kelsey) Edwards of Jamestown, NY, Derek (Anita) Edwards of Clarksville,
TN, Neil (Elizabeth Perez Gonzalez)
Edwards West Valley, NY; His granddaughter,
Grace Edwards, two sisters Janice (Ronald) Dennis of Clarksville, NY and Betty
(Marvin III) Gridley of Muncie, Indiana; His Father and Mother-in-law, Peter
and Mary Lou Sprague of Waverly, OH; Several
Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother
Francis Edwards in 1985 and a sister Jeanne Winchell in 2017. Graveside
services will be held in Cuba Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials
may be made to the Cuba Little League or Cuba Youth Football. Arrangements are
under direction of the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service,
Inc., Cuba.
