New shelf sitter,
shopping bag at Holly Days boutique
The Park Circle bandstand at Heritage Days is represented on
this year’s shelf sitter & tree ornament, offered at The Little Building
during the Booster Citizens’ Holly Days sale. The festival design focus looks
forward to next summer’s 50th anniversary Heritage Days celebration.
Also featured will be a heavy canvas shopping bag with an
image of The Little Building, the Booster Citizens’ Main St. headquarters.
Available as well is a limited supply of the 20th anniversary Angel Station
poster. Only 50 full-color copies were printed, each one signed & numbered
by artist Pat Kaake. In addition there are some of this year’s Cruise Night
tee-shirts, and Civil War Weekend shirts as well.
On the bookshelf, from Heritage Days press, is the 2018
publication of Julie Rowe Cooke’s Legacy: My Ancestors and a Town Called
Angelica, along with: A Child’s History of Angelica (2008, reissued 2017); the
remarkable life story of Rev. Calvin Fairbank, abolitionist, How the Way Was
Prepared (reissued 2016); and Molly Beer’s 2009 “frontier biography” of Moses
Van Campen, Three Journeys to the Genesee.
Other Angelica souvenirs include coffee mugs, caps,
postcards, and more. The Little Building will be open for Holly Days on Friday,
Dec. 7, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Live Nativity,
church-to-church caroling to follow candle-lighting circle on Luminaries night
The candle-lighting circle that begins Luminaries, the
Angelica community Christmas celebration, will take place in Park Circle on
Sunday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m. As they have for many years, the Booster
Citizens will ring the circle with the traditional luminary candles. People
will gather near the two Christmas trees at the east end of the park, and will
pass the light by touching one candle to the next. The singing of a few
favorite carols then will fill the night air.
The group next will move to the Methodist Church where a
live Nativity scene will be presented on the front lawn of the parsonage. The
program continues with a church-to-church procession, going into the Methodist
Church, the Works of Divine Mercy mission, St. Paul’s Episcopal, and First
Baptist, with a pause at each church to place the baby Jesus in the creche.
All are invited to take part in this joyous celebration. The
even concludes with refreshments at the United Methodist Church and
announcement of winners in the holiday decoration contest.
