Patricia Scott Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Great Great
grandmother, and friend
Patricia Scott, 91, formerly of Richburg and Friendship, New
York passed away peacefully Sunday, July 8, 2018 surrounded by her loving
family. Born on August 23, 1926 on the Burdick Road in the Town of Wirt, she
was a daughter of Morris R. and Gladys Campbell Lyman. On April 20, 1946, she
married Leon C. Scott who preceded her in death on June 19, 1996. Pat was a graduate of Richburg Central School
Class of 1944. In August of 1986, she retired as a Secretary to the Guidance
Counselor from Richburg Central School, where she had also served as Business
Manager and Secretary. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in
Friendship until it closed, the Belfast Chapel, the United Church of Christ
Congregational at Arcade, the Bolivar 4 C’s Senior Group, was instrumental in
starting the Richburg Firemen’s Auxiliary, and was also a member and secretary
of the Richburg-Wirt Historical Museum.
One of her proudest moments of being a mother was when they
renamed Route 275 in the Town of Richburg as the PFC. Duane C. Scott Memorial
Highway, in honor of her son’s service and sacrifice to his country during the
Vietnam War. She is survived by her children Leon C. (Barbara) Scott II Spring
Hill of Florida, Thomas D. (Debrah) Scott of East Concord, New York, Steven L.
(Janice) Scott of Cuba, New York; seven grandchildren, fifteen great
grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and many beloved nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in
death by a son PFC. Duane C. Scott on September 29, 1969, two sisters Virginia
Sarah Lyman on May 11, 1938 and Maxine Marie Reitz on January 16, 1996, and a
brother Morris R. Lyman, Jr. on February 11, 2003.
Friends and family may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral
Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Tuesday, July 10,
2018 from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at
which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Robert Dievendorf, pastor of
the United Church of Christ Congregational at Arcade will officiate. Burial will be in Richburg Cemetery,
Richburg, New York.
