Open House planned at Allegany County Jail and Public Safety Facility

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. In celebration of National Police Week the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office will be holding an open house on Tuesday, May 15th from Noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Allegany County Jail and Public Safety Facility.
Several displays will be set up including department vehicles, specialized equipment from the CERT and ACLERT teams, Yellow Dot and CODE RED programs and Safe Child I.D. Tours will available of the jail and 911 center, and weather permitting the inmate garden and pheasant program.
Refreshments will be served throughout the day. The public is encouraged to come and meet Sheriff Whitney and his staff and ask any questions they may have regarding the operation of the Sheriff’s Office.
