Corning Hospital reaches deal with union workers

On Monday, May 7, members of 1199 SEIU voted to ratify a new three-year contract with Guthrie Corning Hospital.
The agreement was approved by 91% of those voting, which represented 41% of the union’s members.
“We are appreciative that we moved through this process so efficiently while maintaining an atmosphere of mutual respect. Both sides were able to communicate their concerns,” said Garrett Hoover, President and CEO of Guthrie Corning Hospital. “To have this agreement approved by such a large majority of the voters demonstrates that everyone involved remained focused on what is most important – patient care.”
Since 1995, 1199 SEIU has represented approximately 500 unionized workers at Guthrie Corning Hospital, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical technicians, clerical, service and maintenance employees.
