Woodhull woman accused of ripping off elderly person


An investigation by the New York State Police in Bath, the Steuben County Adult Protective Home Care Unit, and the Bath Police Department has resulted in charges against Haley Heigel, age 20, of Mill St., Woodhull, NY.  On February 26, the state police and Steuben County Adult Protective received a complaint about suspicious activity on the bank account of an elderly subject.  Upon the completion of the investigation, it was determined that Heigel, without authority or permission, had allegedly cashed four separate checks that were forged from January 10, 2018 until January 31, 2018, and uttered said forged checks at a local bank in the Steuben County area.  Investigation also revealed that Heigel allegedly made unauthorized purchases from February 8, 2018 through February 13, 2018 on the debit card of the same subject.  Heigel and the elderly subject are known to each other. Heigel was charged with four counts of Forgery 2nd , a class “D” Felony, and Identity Theft 2nd, a class “E” Felony.  She was arraigned before town of Bath Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail on $5,000.00 cash bail/$10,000.00 property bond.  Heigel is scheduled to reappear in town of Bath Court at a later date.
