Chenango, NY – On April 6, 2018, at about 12:51 a.m., New York State Police from Binghamton intercepted a vehicle with a missing two-year-old from South Carolina. The two-year-old had suffered a gunshot wound to his lower extremities in South Carolina and had not received medical attention.
Information was developed by the Horry County Police Department in South Carolina that the family may be traveling through the area. State Police received a description of a vehicle for the missing child may be in. Troopers patrolling Interstate 81 spotted the vehicle near exit 6 in the town of Chenango. The vehicle was stopped without incident.
After an investigation, two people were taken into custody. Holly G. Dew, age 24 of Conway, SC and Randi L. Session, age 23 of Conway, SC were arrested for the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The two-year-old child was transported to Wilson Hospital where he is in stable condition. Broome County Child Protective Services (CPS) was contacted and two other children were turned over to CPS.
Both Dew and Session were arraigned this morning in the town of Chenango Court and were remanded to the Broome County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.
The Horry County Police Department will be lodging their own charges in the case and are continuing their investigation.
