Houghton College’s Jazz Ensemble to Perform

HOUGHTON, NY -The jazz ensemble and big band combo at Houghton College will perform on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
The evening will feature original compositions from Dr. Ken Crane, director of jazz activities at Houghton, and senior Marc LeGrand. Crane’s composition is inspired by the young composers he instructs and is specially modified for a smaller ensemble.
Additionally, music from historically prominent jazz musicians such as Hank Mobley, Randy Brecker, Duke Ellington, Cedar Walton, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea, and Curtis Fuller will be part of the concert programming. The compositions from these jazz artists have influenced generations of jazz musicians, including the student and community member performers.
