Allegany County: No injuries when loaded ambulance strikes deer
There were no injuries reported when an Alfred Ambulance struck a deer at 4 a.m. today while transporting a patient to St. James Hospital in Hornell. According to a radio report, the Alfred ambulance told 911dispatchers that "we're all okay" but said the emergency vehicle had been disabled. The collision occurred on State Route 21 in front of the Alfred-Almond school. An Almond ambulance was immediately dispatched to the scene. The patient was transferred from the damaged Alfred rig to the Almond vehicle, which continued the transport to the hospital. T & R Towing from Hornell was dispatched to the scene to haul the injured rig away. Alfred Police responded to the scene to complete an accident report.
