ERIE, PA. – Lura R. Jordan, 86, formerly of Andover, passed
away Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2017) at home surrounded by family.
Mrs. Jordan was born on Feb. 22, 1931 in Libby Mont. to Jay
and Olive (Trow) Fowler. On Jan. 9, 1983, in New Milford, Conn., she married
Charles J. Jordan, who predeceased her on Jan. 25, 2001.
Lura is survived by two daughters, Crystal J. (Paul)
Blanchard of Erie, Pa. and Mary L. (Terry) Sahr of Kenmore; one brother, Robert
T. (Judy) Winiarski of Hornell; one sister, Adeline Fowler; 4 grandchildren,
John (Crystal) Swinford, III, Shane (Susan) Sohrweid, Robert Winiarski and
Daniel Winiarski; 13 great grandchildren, Johnna Swinford, Allen Sohrweid,
Amber Sohrweid, Austin Sohrweid, Autumn Sohrweid, Aaron Sohrweid, Ezra Dean,
Oliver Reed, Faith Flemming, Sierra Shea Winiarski, Savannah Winiarski, Julie
Ann Brown and Jonathan Brown; one great great grandchild, Alexis Sohrweid; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two
brothers, Robert Fowler and Ted Fowler; and one sister, Lucella Blanchard.
Lura chose the path of a homemaker, investing herself in the
cares and concerns of a busy home life after she retired from The Kinberly
Clark Corporation. She loved knitting sweaters, afghans and scarfs as family
gifts and baby hats as gifts to all the hospital newborns. Lura also loved
counted cross stitch and much of her work was displayed on the walls of her
home. She loved her many cats and took care of them like children.
Lura was an avid reader, especially English history, which
fit nicely with her longtime membership of the Andover Library Club. She was
also a member of the Andover Red Hat Society and the Andover Golden Agers.
Somewhat of a fitness fanatic, she enjoyed her daily walks and worked out with
the Growing Stronger Exercise Club.
Per Lura’s wishes, there will be no prior visitation. A
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday (Oct. 7) at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed
Sacrament Church in Andover.
Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral
