A man was injured after the large excavation machine he was operating while demolishing a Wellsville home overturned. The incident happened Thursday afternoon on Farnum Street. Kevin LaForge is the owner of the company ripping the house down. He told WRN that the "surface gave way...causing the machine to tip over." WRN spoke to an area neighbor who said he saw the machine tracks pointed straight in the air.
The machine operator was injured and taken to Jones Memorial in Wellsville. He was then transferred to Strong Memorial in Wellsville, however the man is expected to be released Friday afternoon. When we spoke with LaForge, he was at the Rochester hospital.
LaForge said the worker was a 7 year, experienced employee. He added his thanks for the many agencies, mostly volunteer, that responded.
Wellsville Code Enforcement Officer Jo Fenske also responded and credited the emergency services response as well as the response from the contractor.
