Obituary: Kevin R. Young, 56, Wellsville native

Kevin R. Young, 56, of Hopper Hill Road, Troupsburg, NY, passed away at home on Friday, March 3, 2017.
Born in Wellsville, NY on December 1, 1960, Kevin was the son of Joseph R. and Kathryn “Kay” (Nelson) Young. He was a 1978 graduate of Troupsburg Central School.
Following high school, Kevin served for 2 years in the US Air Force. A mason by trade, he had along history associated with the Bricklayers and Associated Craftsmen, Local 30 in Pittsford, NY. For the last several years, he was employed by Corning Inc. where he traveled the world using his skills as a bricklayer to install and repair equipment used to create molten glass.
While on an assignment in Taiwan, Kevin met a young lady named TingI. Their relationship developed into a love story and on Aug. 14, 2010, they were married at his home in Troupsburg.

Kevin was an avid motorcyclist and belonged to God’s Country Chapter of A.B.A.T.E., a motorcycle advocacy organization. He also was a member of the Howard Lines VFW Memorial Post in Knoxville, PA, a social member of the Knoxville Fire Company and member of the Elkland Moose Lodge.
Surviving Kevin is his wife, TingI at home, his son, Joseph Young (Shelby Northrup) of Corning, his daughter, Julie (James) Kuck of Lindley, grandchildren, Mason Botelle and Caidence Kuck, his mother, Kay Seeley of Troupsburg, his sister, Sue Sheffield of Hornell, his brothers, Douglas (Barbara) Young of Glen Allen, VA and Raymond (Diana) Seeley of Troupsburg, his mother-in-law Wang Chang Chin Shu and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Young, his step father, Raymond C. Seeley, his sister, Sonja F. Treat and his father-in-law Wang Chung Chuan.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 11 from noon to 3 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Kevin’s funeral services will follow there at 3:30 p.m. following a brief adjournment. Mr. Erick Potter will officiate.
