WELLSVILLE - Brenton Lee Deschler, 77, formerly of Portville, passed away peacefully Thursday (May 22, 2025) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center in Wellsville.Brenton was born in Cuba on Oct. 15, 1947, the son of the late Robert and Julia Black Deschler.
He graduated from Portville Central School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, serving in South Korea. Brent returned to school and earned an associate's degree from Alfred Tech.
He worked for the Olean Times Herald as a salesman and a columnist for the Times Herald and the "Jazz" magazine. He also worked as DJ Brent, DJ'ing for birthdays, weddings and events. He was a member of the Cuba Legion.
Brent enjoyed going to car shows and displaying his cars. In high school, Brent was the lead singer for a local band, The Citrons.
Brent is survived by his children, Briar (Jason) Torty-Deschler and Brittany (Jason) Stupp-Deschler; his grandchildren, Christopher (Rachael) Auman, Brooklyn and Avah Auman, Coleton Stupp, Finnigan Stupp, Willow Stupp and Killian Stupp; and sisters, Brenda (Terry) Deschler and Lisa (Joel) Deschler-Gilfert; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Julia; and a son, Zachary Deschler.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (May 29, 2025) in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
