Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion Memorial Day Weekend Family News
May 25th, 2025 Morrison Hayes Unit 702 American Legion Auxiliary honored our deceased Auxiliary members with a service in front of Post 702 Wellsville American Legion. The service honored our 202 deceased members with 21 members, 7 Color Guard and 4 juniors.
May 26th. 2025 Memorial Day “A Day to remember our fallen veterans”.
A beautiful day of weather started off with Morrison Hayes Post 702 Wellsville American Legion Family doing services at Veteran Memorial Park and attended by well over 150 people. 30 Honor Guard and 7 juniors participated in the event.
Michael Hennessy, Allegany County Veterans Service Officer was master of ceremonies presiding over the somber service, alongside Post 702 Commander Yvonne Simmons. He announced the veterans from the Wellsville area that passed away during the past year.
Wreaths were placed by the Wellsville Mayor Schayler and Town Supervisor Shad Allsworth, Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion Family, Wellsville BPOE Elks, Frank B Church VFW, Wellsville Moose Lodge and the Wellsville Fire/EMS AND Fireman and Junior Firemen marching.
The Morrison Hayes American Legion Color Guard stood at attention and the Firing Squad did a 21 gun salute with taps being played by Wellsville High School Band members for our fallen veterans.
Following services, a parade down Wellsville Main Street with Morrison Hayes Post 702 Color Guard leading followed by Post 702 American Legion Riders, Grand Marshall Lyle Ostrander, whom is a 33 continuous member of the Post, Wellsville High School marching band, Wellsville Fire/EMS vehicles and Fireman and Junior Firemen marching.
Services were rendered at Woodlawn and Sacred Heart Cemeteries and Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion.
