Obituary: Lela Sarah Elizabeth Arnett, 21, of Savona and Cameron

Lela Sarah Elizabeth Arnett, 21, of Savona and Cameron, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. All hope is lost when you lose a loved one to addiction.

Lela was born in the Town of Urbana, NY on February 21, 1999, the daughter of Lisa M. Arnett and Herbert H. Smith III. She attended schools in Addison and Hammondsport where she often attained honor roll rankings. Lela had been employed as a dietary assistant at Taylor Health Care Facility in Bath and later was a very able milker at Cole’s Dairy and Risley’s Dairy, both in Cameron Mills and was held in great esteem for her work by both families. Lela loved the outdoors and all its creatures. She loved animals and had a great attraction to cows. She had a huge collection of stuffed cow characters. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a wonderful artistic flair. Very athletic, Lela participated in soccer, softball and cheerleading in school. She became a very capable horse shoe player. Surviving Lela are her loving parents, Lisa and Robert DeSalvo Sr. of Savona and Herbert and Pam Smith III of Cameron, her daughter, Madelynn Grace Marie Arnett, her sisters, Lena Marie Brooks and husband James Keller and son Korbin of Port Arthur, TX, Taylor Smith of Cameron and Kristina Tiffany of Corning, her brother, Alvin Thomas McGowan of Cameron, her maternal grandmother, Daisey Marie Arnett of Orange, TX, her paternal grandparents, Herb and Irene Smith Jr. of Cameron, aunts and uncles, James and Rhonda Arnett and Kim and Bradley Herrington, great aunt and uncle, Bobbie and Pat Denin of Texas and cousins, Christopher, Ashley, Maesey, James and Cody. Lela was preceded in death by her brother, Shawn Smith and her maternal grandfather, James Edwin Arnett. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 18 from noon to 2 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Cameron Mills, NY.
