GOVERNOR CUOMO SIGNS LEGISLATION DESIGNATING PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM "NORTH DANSVILLE VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today signed legislation (S.7281/A.08156) designating a portion of the state highway system in the town of North Dansville as the "North Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway". The legislation, requested by the town of North Dansville through a unanimous resolution, will rename a portion of Route 63 in the town to recognize the valiant actions of veterans, as well as their brave and honorable service and sacrifice.

"New Yorkers owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the brave heroes who have served our nation in uniform, and the town of North Dansville is right to honor them with this tribute," Governor Cuomo said. "The North Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway will serve as a as a constant reminder of their service and sacrifice as residents and visitors travel through the town."

Governor Cuomo also signed three other bills today, on Veterans Day, in recognition of the sacrifices made by New York's veterans in every region of the state.

Senator George M. Borrello said, "Now, more than ever, it is important that we remember and honor those who served and sacrificed for our great nation. Because of our veterans, we are strong and free. They persevered through tremendous hardships and risked their lives to defend our country and the ideals of liberty and democracy on which it stands. Those enormous contributions will be commemorated through this memorial designation. I am grateful to Assemblywoman Byrnes for her legislative partnership and to Governor Cuomo for signing this measure into law on Veterans Day."

Assembly Member Marjorie Byrnes said, "I am so pleased the Governor is signing this legislation on Veterans Day to honor the men and women who have faithfully served our country. I'm grateful to Senator Borrello for assisting in bringing this recognition to North Dansville."
