Felony charge leveled after Southern Tier amber alert - children located in Maryland

On 11/05/2020, at 5:40 p.m., the Binghamton Police Patrol Division responded to 50 Park St for a report of two children being taken from the residence.  Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined that the 8 year old sisters were taken from the residence by their mother, 34 year old Amanda Collis of Hagerstown, Maryland.  It was further learned that the biological father has custody of the children, Collis had removed them without permission, and that Collis had ties to Crystal Spring, PA and Hagerstown, MD.  The Binghamton Police requested an amber alert, which was broadcast in regard to the incident.

 

On 11/6/2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Amanda Collis and the children were located, safe, in Hagerstown, MD.  Amanda Collis was charged with Custodial Interference 1st, an E Felony.  Arrangements have been made for the return of the children involved.

The Binghamton Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Southern Tier Crime Analysis Center, The New York State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, The Hagerstown MD Police Department, and the Washington County MD Sheriff Office.​
