Public Health Director Ballengee - Press Release for Fall 2020 Vaccines

Parents: Plan Now for Fall School Immunizations The Allegany County Department of Health would like to remind parents of school and college-age children to plan ahead to get your children vaccinated before school starts this fall. “There are different vaccinations required based on a child’s age. If you don’t have a copy of your child’s current vaccinations, you can check with your child’s doctor’s office or the school to get a copy and to find out what vaccinations are needed for this fall,” said Brittney Schuld, Director of Patient Services for the Allegany County Department of Health.

“There are also more choices than ever to get the necessary vaccines, including flu shots. Along with your health care provider and the Health Department, most pharmacies are now offering flu and other vaccines. Pharmacies offer 5 to 7 days a week with evening hours, for customer convenience,” she said. To assist with accessibility to vaccines, we polled our county and nearby county’s pharmacies for vaccinations they provide, age ranges, and days and hours of operation that vaccines will be given.
