Obituary: William W. “Bill” Wixson, 76, of Wellsville


William W. “Bill” Wixson, 76, of Wellsville, NY, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. 
Born December 3, 1943, in Wellsville, he was the son of Donald F. and Laura M. Welstead Wixson.  A graduate of Wellsville Central School, he attended RIT in 1964 for drafting and Alfred State College in 1965 for floral design.  Bill was employed by Kerton’s Floral in his younger years and then as a mechanic by Pfuntner’s, Bill Garvey Cadillac Olds, his own auto shop, Wixson Auto Repair, and Cook’s Auto until his retirement.  Bill was a member of the Trail Blazer’s 4-H club and Boy Scouts of America.  He was a woodworker, gunsmith, and an antique enthusiast. 
Surviving are:  longtime companion, Katherine C. Truax;  two children, Amy Whitesell of Austintown, OH and Douglas (Ida) Wixson of Pembroke Pines, FL;  four grandchildren, James (Misty) Wixson of Salamanca, Tyler Wixson of Boca Roton, FL, Jordan Whitesell of Canfield, OH, and Justin Whitesell of Austintown, OH;   three great-grandchildren;  a sister, Lois (Louis) Leotta of Gowanda;  nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James Wixson. 
Cremation was at Olney-Foust Crematory.  Services will be private.  Arrangements are under the direction of Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.wellsvillefuneralhome.com.
