Dispute continues over Alma Town Board meeting

Even a global pandemic can't end the feud in the Town of Alma government. Three board members are demanding a town council meeting on June 9th. This notice was sent Saturday:

Town of Alma Regular Board Meeting

A quorum (Steve Dickerson, Jerry Currier and Bev Root) of the Alma Town Board has called a regular Town Board meeting set for June 9, 2020 at 6p.m. at the Alma Town Hall. Due to Gov. Cuomo's Executive Order 202.1 (gatherings no more than 10 people) the meeting will be closed to the public. The Town Clerk must set up a live stream via Facebook, Zoom etc., so the meeting is accessible to the public (Town Law 3-15 Open Meetings Law).

Last week, the Town Supervisor immediately responded to the meeting announcement, saying only he has the authority to call a board meeting. He said in an email message "there will not be a board meeting." The original story can be found HERE.

Like many other issues in Alma over the last year, this probably won't have a happy ending. In 2018, the population of Alma was 837.
