Residents Cautioned About Travel and COVID-19

The Allegany County Department of Health would like to caution residents about travel to or from the portions of the United States currently experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases.  “Over the past week or so some of our cases have been linked to travel, especially Florida,” said Tyler Shaw, Deputy Public Health Director for the Health Department.  “If you have recently traveled to an area experiencing an increase in COVID-19, we recommend you have a discussion with your healthcare provider to secure a COVID-19 test.  We ask that you self-quarantine yourself and limit exposures as much as possible upon return to Allegany County until you get a negative test result,” he said.   If you do not have a provider, you can call the Health Department at (585) 268-9250 for further discussion.  Please consider future travel plans carefully and if you do have to travel, again, please use caution, self-quarantine yourself, and limit exposures to the public and family members as much as possible upon your return.  “Please help us keep our residents safe and stop the spread of COVID-19,” Shaw said.
