Wellsville loses a man of honor

Retired Wellsville Police Chief James "JAC" Cicirello died this afternoon. He served the Department as Chief, Sergeant, Investigator and patrol officer. Countless crimes were solved based on his skill. He wasn't just a lawman; He was a community leader. Jim led the former Allegany County Office of Emergency Services Rescue Squad, which later merged with Wellsville Ambulance. He was a familiar voice on the radio, but not just public safety services...Cicirello was an amateur radio operator (aka ham radio). Known across the region as KA2AJH, he helped develop radio operators, including myself. Funeral services are pending.
