Hornell Area Transit rider tests positive for COVID-19

Statement from Hornell Area Transit:

Dear riders,
We are aware of the report that on the afternoon of Thursday, April 16th we had a passenger with no symptoms on our bus. This person later received notice that they were positive for COVID-19. As is procedure, Steuben County Public Health interviewed this person and reported their movements of the last 48 hours to the public. We have been in communication with Public Health and want to assure our riders that we are and have been doing everything to reduce any exposures to all of our drivers and riders.

We have been alternating the buses and deep cleaning them at the end of each shift as well as cleaning high touch areas in between riders as per the CDC guidelines.
We encourage any rider to stay home and only use the bus when absolutely necessary. Please do not ride especially, if you have a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
All riders are required to wear a mask or face covering when on our bus, as per Governor Cuomo's recent executive order.
The sooner we can put a stop to this horrible virus, the sooner we can all be together again.
As always.. Stay safe and stay well.
