Coronavirus: Wellsville police officer asked to "self-monitor"
A Wellsville police officer has been asked to "self-monitor" at home for a few days. Police Chief Tim O'Grady confirmed the information Tuesday afternoon and said the measure was taken "out of an abundance of caution" after conferring with the health department. O'Grady said the officer was involved in a criminal investigation involving a male juvenile. The chief said during the investigation, the suspect did not display any symptoms but it was discovered that in recent days, the juvenile had displayed some potentially concerning symptoms. O'Grady said the involved officer was about to begin his pass days and it would not impact the police schedule. It was suggested that the officer "self-monitor" for any symptoms. O'Grady said the action was also taken to protect the environment of the station. "Our officers have already been closely monitoring their own actions" for the past several days, according to the chief. O'Grady said charges are pending from the initial investigation.
