Two new board members were elected in January hoping they
could help resolve the lawsuits that have been splitting this Town for 16
months. The Town has received proposals from both lawsuits. This should have
been a good step in getting the Town of Alma back to normal. A meeting was
setup to discuss one of the proposals, this was to decide how the TOWN BOARD
wanted to proceed. A telephone conference was setup. When everybody called in,
not all of the BOARD MEMBERS were present. (We found out later that a member
was never contacted about the meeting) We were told we could call an EXECUTIVE
SESSION and continue on. When two of the Board members told them we felt all
the TOWN BOARD should be present we were informed by another Board member that
the lawyer had already sent her paper work in to deny the proposal. That is
when two Board members hung up knowing that the lawyer only listened to one
Board member again. If we are ever going to settle the lawsuits that hang over
this Towns head, it will need to be done by the TOWN BOARD not by one TOWN
BOARD MEMBER.
