Douglas H. House “beloved brother and uncle”
AUSTIN, Pa.---Douglas H. “Doug” House, 75, a lifelong
resident of Austin and Coudersport, passed away in his home surrounded by his
loving family on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, after a lengthy illness.
Born on Wednesday, August 2, 1944 in Odin, he was a son of
Harold W. and Alice May Ayers House.
Doug attended Coudersport High School. He was a farmer and was employed as a truck
driver hauling potatoes for area farmers in Sweden Township. He had also worked for Max Greeley and Sons,
driving water trucks and dump trucks for years.
Additionally, he also worked for Sweden Township, plowing snow and
performing general road maintenance.
He was a former member of the East Fork Sportsmen’s Club.
Surviving are two sisters, Barbara (Donald) Colburn of
Howard and Fern Davis of Holly Grove, Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews,
grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by a son,
Timothy Lee House; and a brother, David W. House.
There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Sweden Hill Cemetery,
Coudersport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959; the
LEEK Hunting and Mountain Preserve, 497 PA 244, Oswayo, PA 16915; or to a
charity of donor’s choice.
Doug’s family has entrusted his care and cremation
arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L.
Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
