A bonfire, with free hotdogs and marshmallows for toasting,
will start at 7 p.m. Friday, October 25, at the church's 2987 Knights Creek
Road (County Road 9) location, hosted by the children and youth ministry,
although persons of all ages and families are invited to participate.
On Sunday, October 27, the church will host its free weekly
Community Dinner following its 11 a.m. service, with cake and ice cream being
included in recognition of community resident birthdays and anniversaries
during October.
Special recognition also will be provided for Pastor Carl
Kemp, along with his wife, Linda, and David Peralta, music minister and
missionary, as part of Pastor Appreciation Month.
The pastor recently was recognized by the international Evangelical
Methodist Church as a Legacy Pastor for having served the Scio church with his
wife for over 35 years, some 28 of them as senior pastor.
The music missionary, a member of the Simon Bolivar
Venezuelan National Symphony Orchestra, has been at Knights Creek Church since
February of last year and recently was certified by the international body as a
lay exhorter. In addition to providing
music at various church and community activities, Peralta also gives free music
lessons to children and teens, including piano, violin and viola, cello, guitar
and music basics.
