RE: RESIGNATION OF DEBORAH MCDONNEL AS COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AND ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES

I will be releasing the following statement and wanted to share it with you prior to its release:
BELMONT – At our regular Board meeting today, the Allegany County Board of Legislators accepted the resignation of Deborah McDonnell from her position as Allegany County Administrator effective October 28, 2019. Allegany County thanks Ms. McDonnell for her service to the County and wishes her the best in her future experiences.

Ms. McDonnell has been on a leave of absence since October 2, 2019. During her leave, Ms. McDonnell’s Budget and Auditor duties were performed by the Deputy Budget Officer and the Deputy Auditor. Any day-to-day administrative duties previously delegated to the Administrator by the Board of Legislators were handled by the Chairman of the Board or other County officers whose positions are relevant to those duties. No lapse in County leadership or duties has occurred.

Also at today’s Board meeting, the Board appointed former County Administrator Tim Boyde and County Attorney Carissa Knapp as joint Acting County Administrators. Terri Ross, current Deputy Budget Officer, has been appointed Budget Officer. Acting County Auditor duties have been appointed to Clerk of the Board, Brenda Rigby Riehle, who will work in conjunction with the current Deputy Auditor, Don Horan.
