Court action has been delayed in the criminal case against 35-year-old Scott Andrew Luce, of Genesee, PA. The former Treasurer of Genesee Fire/Ambulance is charged with 128 felony and misdemeanor counts after he allegedly stole nearly $100,000 from the agencies in 2017. The attorney for Luce requested a bail modification hearing. Arguments were scheduled for yesterday in Potter County court, although the outcome of the hearing is unknown. Luce had been out of jail on a $100,000 bond. His attorney asked that a criminal conference be delayed. A judge agreed and rescheduled the conference for November 6th at 9 a.m. in Coudersport. Prosecutors did upgrade one charge to felony theft by unlawful taking.
Pennsylvania State Police arrested Luce over the summer.
He was previously convicted of stealing more than $10,000 from the Independence Emergency Squad. In 2017 he was sentenced to a three year conditional discharge. Judge Thomas Brown also directed Luce to make restitution in the amount of $11,969.64. He must also pay a court surcharge of 325 and a DNA fee of $50.
Prosecutors said that between December 12, 2013 and October 21, 2014, Luce stole more than $10,000 from the agency. He was charged with felony 3rd degree grand larceny.
