Layoffs strike Wellsville manufacturing company

Multiple sources confirmed to Wellsville Regional News that Ljungström, the former Air Preheater company in Wellsville, announced layoffs on Tuesday. The sources said ten people were laid off in the office, while between 25-29 were let go in the shop. Retirement packages were reportedly offered to nearly two dozen others. There have been several visible changes with the company as of late. Recently, operations were ceased at the company's Main Street facility and over the summer, the older General Office Building on Truax Road was demolished. It was replaced by grass. The company was incorporated in Wellsville on Oct. 1, 1925. The first air preheaters were supplied from Wellsville to the International Paper Company of Niagara Falls.
