Obituary: Jean M. Howard, 87, Richburg


Jean M. Howard “beloved mother and grandmother”
RICHBURG, N.Y.---Jean M. Howard, 87, a lifelong resident of Richburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 19, 2019, in Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Wellsville, with her loving family by her side, after a long illness.
Born on Monday, April 18, 1932 in Obi, N.Y., she was a daughter of Mervin and Clella Perry Sisson.  On December 24, 1 953 in Obi, she married the love of her life, Richard E. “Dick” Howard, who passed away on March 23, 2010.
Jean was a graduate of Portville High School.  She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, primarily working in Richburg and Bolivar until her retirement.
Jean attended West Clarksville Baptist Church and was a former member of Obi Community Church.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and baking.  Her greatest loves were her Lord and her family. Jean’s favorite color was yellow, just like the beautiful sunshine she brought to every life she touched.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, David L. (Phyllis) Howard of Abilene, Texas, Lori A. (Ed) Childs of Richburg, and Brenda L. Howard of Bolivar; Clint (Michelle) Burdick of Richburg, who Jean and Dick lovingly considered their son; nine grandchildren, Amber, Derrick, Jenny, Nathaniel, Erin, Justin, Corey, Spencer, and Jess; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by two sons, infant Harry and Tom Howard; three daughters, infants Judy and Sandra Howard, and Kathy Jones; a sister, Bernice Wilder.
Family and friends may call to pay their respects and share memories of this wonderful lady’s life from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, Pa., with a memorial tribute by her family to follow at 3 p.m.  Burial will be in Dimmick Cemetery, Town of Wirt.

Jean’s family has entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa.
