Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE and TASE: TEVA) today
announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce has selected Brendan O’Grady,
Executive Vice President and Head of North America Commercial and President
& CEO of Teva USA to serve on the U.S. Investment Advisory Council. The
Council is a 25-member panel of national experts and business leaders who will
counsel and advise Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross on attracting and
retaining foreign direct investment in the U.S.
O’Grady’s appointment reflects recognition of his deep
expertise spanning more than 28 years in the pharmaceutical industry.
“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Council and
provide a unique perspective on the impact and value of foreign direct investment
on the pharmaceutical industry in the U.S.,” says O’Grady. “This is especially
important as foreign investments can affect domestic innovation for new
therapies and help ensure a strong supply chain for safe, effective and lower
cost generic therapies.”
Chartered in 2016, the U.S. Investment Advisory Council
makes recommendations on infrastructure investment priorities, workforce
development initiatives, and groundbreaking strategies to support economic
development through new digital tools. Collectively, those recommendations are
mobilized to generate additional foreign direct investment in the U.S.
In addition to his role at Teva, O’Grady is a current member
of the board of directors and the compensation committee chair for American
Well, a leading U.S. based telemedicine company, and is a Board Member of the
Association for Accessible Medicines which represents the generic and
biosimilar industries in the U.S.
On Thursday, September 12th, Irish America magazine will
recognize O’Grady and celebrate the 2019 Healthcare & Life Sciences 50 at
an awards dinner at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.

contributions of Irish-American and Irish-born leaders in fields including
medical care, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, research and
development, and life sciences venture capital.
The biography written by Irish America magazine states;
Brendan O’Grady is seen as an industry thought leader in market access, patient
services, and commercial strategies and has spoken at industry symposia and
conferences on these topics. O’Grady was appointed Executive Vice President
& Head for Teva North America Commercial in November 2017. Prior to his
appointment, he served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for Teva
Pharmaceutical’s Global Specialty Medicine division and the interim head of
Teva’s European Specialty business.
Previously, O’Grady held the positions of President &
CEO of North America Generic Medicines and Vice President and Head of U.S.
Market Access & Patient Services for Teva’s U.S. specialty business, which
included their internal specialty pharmacy. In that capacity, he was
responsible for access within all third party payer segments to include
commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, federal, and specialty pharmacy, as well as
public and private exchanges, and proactively worked with payers in the
development of innovative access strategies for Teva’s branded medicines. He was
also accountable for the development and execution of the many patient
assistance and engagement programs focused on optimizing the patient experience
and improving outcomes. He has 28 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
O’Grady has also been a guest lecturer at Rutgers
University’s pharmaceutical MBA program on the topic of specialty pharmacy
distribution. He is a current member of the board of directors and the
compensation committee chair for American Well, a leading U.S.-based
telemedicine company.
Prior to joining Teva, O’Grady spent 10 years with Sanofi
predecessor companies in a variety of commercial and medical affairs roles that
began in field sales. He received his B.S. from Geneseo State University (SUNY
Geneseo in Geneseo, NY) in Management Science/Marketing and holds an M.B.A.
from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.

O’Grady is a 1984 graduate of the Wellsville High School and
currently resides in Edgewater, Florida and Overland Park, Kansas with his wife
Julie (Seeley). They have three
children, Ryan of Kansas City, Kansas, Austin of Dallas, Texas and Mary Grace
of Prairie Village, Kansas. He is the
son of A. Thomas and Roseanna O’Grady of Wellsville.
