Two overnight fires cause extensive damage in Steuben County

Fire ripped through a house trailer in East Campbell. Crews were dispatched at 11:38 p.m. Wednesday after dispatch received numerous reports that the trailer was engulfed. Initial reports indicated the trailer was not occupied when the flames were discovered. It was a two-alarm blaze sending equipment in from East Campbell, Campbell, Coopers, Corning, Painted Post, Gang Mills and North and South Corning. The fire was declared under control within 45 minutes. The cause is under investigation.

A Town of Caton home was badly damaged by an overnight fire. The fire began shortly before midnight Wednesday at a home on Handy Hollow Road. Online photos showed flames were through the roof. Eight fire departments from two states were called in including Caton, Lindley, South Corning, Pine City, Lawrenceville, Millerton, Painted Post and Webb Mills. The cause of that blaze is also under investigation.
