Christmas Coffee House Friday at Scio Church

Area residents will have an opportunity to relax from the holidays pace Friday, December 7, when a Scio church hosts a free Christmas coffee house with beverages, refreshments, music, games and other fun activities for individuals, youth and families.
The monthly First Friday gathering, which alternates with a movie night, will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Knights Creek Church, 2987 Knights Creek Road (County Road 9).
The event is one of a number of activities the church will be engaged in during the holidays season as it continues its extensive community outreach, according to Pastor Carl Kemp.
On Friday, December 21, Knights Creek invites other churches and community members to join its youth for caroling within the hamlet, meeting at 6:45 p.m. at the Scio Memorial Library Park on State Route 19.  Participants will return to the church for hot chocolate, refreshments and games after the event.
On Christmas Day, the church will host a free Christmas dinner following its annual 11 a.m. service, with a New Year's Eve Party scheduled for 7 p.m. to midnight Monday, December 31.
The First Friday of the year movie on January 4, which will include popcorn, refreshments and games for children, will be Magdalena - Through Her Eyes, the story of Jesus as seen by Mary Magdalene. Through January 21, the church will be hosting from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sundays a study on Life's Healing Choices, designed to help people find freedom from hurts, hang-ups and habits that may even have been ongoing for years.
The DVD/gender-specific discussion series is taught by Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in California and author of the long-time, best selling book, Purpose Driven Life.
From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays the church hosts Celebrate Recovery | Celebrate Victory, an ongoing support through testimonies and lessons for individuals and youth who are struggling with all types of life issues.
The church also offers a free weekly Community Dinner after its 11 a.m. Sunday worship services, followed by free music lessons for children and adults.  It holds a 6 p.m. Sunday night service, a 6 p.m. Wednesday night Bible study, and a 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. weekday community prayer gathering.
