Alfred State: Arson probe leads to student suspension

On three occasions, trash or a small pile of clothes were set on fire in the MacKenzie North residence hall at Alfred State College. The fires were contained quickly and emergency procedures worked to evacuate. Numerous police agencies were called in to investigate. It's unclear if an arrest has been made yet, but Alfred State has released the following statement:
"Based on an investigative development, the college has enacted an interim suspension for a student directly related to this case.  An interim suspension means that a student may not be present on campus, in our buildings, or attend classes pending the outcome of a process outlined in the student code of conduct."
