New York State Troopers from the Wayland barracks responded to a domestic dispute which resulted in the arrest of a Wayland man.  At approximately 1:11p.m.on Sunday October 29th, Troopers responded to a domestic dispute. State Police Investigator Mark Villone said when police entered the home, one of the participants allegedly refused to drop a knife and “subsequently threw it at the Trooper, striking him in the arm.” In a press statement, Investigator Villone said there was a brief struggle before Troopers arrested and charged Geoffery R. Burnett, age 16, of 12 Fremont St., Wayland, N.Y. The teenager was charged with felony Attempted Assault, 2nd degree; Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 4th degree; Criminal Mischief, 4th degree and Resisting Arrest. Burnett was arraigned before Village of Wayland Justice Tom Recktenwald and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $3,000.00 cash bail, or $6,000.00 property bond.  He is scheduled to reappear in the Village of Wayland Court on November 3rd at 10 a.m.
