Steve and his wife Roxy have been residents of Wellsville
for 31 years and have raised two daughters here. Steve has a long career in business consisting
of 35 years managing Kmart stores and retiring from the Wellsville Kmart as
General Manager in 2005. In 2006 he
became the Executive Director of The Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce, a
position he held for ten years. Steve was also elected to the Wellsville Town
Board where he has served six years, two as Deputy Supervisor. He currently serves in that capacity.
Steve also is the Tourism Specialist with the Greater
Allegany County Chamber of Commerce where he uses various media to promote Allegany County
to the rest of the United
States
Steve’s community service activities include serving as
president of the Wellsville Lions Club where he continues as a member and has
been for 29 years. He was also the
creator of the “Shop With A Cop” kids holiday program in Allegany County, now
in its 25th year.
“I think a person’s life experience and how they have
conducted themselves will reveal much of what you need to know about
them.” Havey said. “People who know me know my character and I
hope people who don’t know me will have the opportunity to know me soon. Until that time, I hope they see in my
background “stability”, “problem solving”, innovative thinking” and a caring
for our community. I would like to use
my skills acquired over my 47 year career to help solve our shared
concerns. I would welcome opportunities
to speak to individuals or groups so we can get started.” He added.He closed with this thought: “My motto is: Integrity- Experience- Common Sense. I feel these are necessary ingredients in public service and I believe that I have something to contribute to the forward motion of
