Scio: Ramsey running for District 3 Legislator

Editor's note: This site will post one story (with photo) for candidates seeking election to public office. Candidates are permitted one story for primary races and one story for the General Election.
Submitted by John Ramsey:

John Ramsey, of Scio, is running for one of the County Legislature seats from District 3, which includes the Towns of Alma, Bolivar, Genesee, Independence, Scio, Willing and Wirt.
John Ramsey is a Republican, and political newcomer. He and his brother operate Ramsey Farms, a dairy farm on County Road 31 in Scio: nearly 700 acres, 120 head of livestock including 60 milking cows. John grew up on the farm where he lives now with his wife Alissa of five years. He graduated from Scio Central School in 2004. He completed the Alfred State two year program in CAD/drafting and immediately went to work for Dresser-Rand as a draftsman. He worked there for over five years before leaving for a job with General Electric in Schenectady. John returned home to take over the family farm with his brother, James, after their father, Ernest Ramsey, passed away in 2013. John is also a salesman with Hubner Seed, selling corn, soybean, alfalfa and wheat to local farmers.
John sees the issues facing Allegany County. He is running to offer a fresh perspective on the “same old problems” facing the County, in which he feels not enough has been done in the past to solve. These issues are obviously high property taxes, lack of good jobs within the County and the dramatic increase in the drug problem affecting our citizens. John is a “for the people legislator” If elected, He wants to encourage the public to contact him with questions, comments or problems.
The Republican Primary is September 12 when the field will be narrowed to the three with the most votes, who will then go on to the November election.
