Allegany County 911 looks to use towers in Alfred, Independence

On June 7, the Allegany County Public Safety Committee will discuss broadening its emergency radio reach with new towers in Alfred and Independence.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the County’s approval to enter into a 25 year lease agreement for 1 acre of land in the Town of Alfred with the State University of New York College of Technology at Alfred. This property will be used to construct the new Alfred 911 Tower. This land will NOT be county owned and will be a onetime payment for $1.00 for a 25 year lease renewable by the county at the end of the lease agreement if the county so desires.

FISCAL IMPACT: County Funded (Not Budgeted) $1.00

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the County’s approval to enter into a 25 year lease agreement for 2.8 acres of land in the Town of Independence with Armstrong Telephone Company f/k/a Addison Home Telegraph Company of New York. This property will be used to construct the new Whitesville 911 Tower. This land will NOT be county owned and will be a onetime payment of $1.00 for a 25 year lease renewable by the county at the end of the lease agreement if the county so desires.
