Wellsville: May 1st storm was a microburst - 90 mph winds

On May 1, 2017, wild storms swept across Wellsville and surrounding communities. In its wake, buildings were damaged, trees were knocked down and hundreds went without power for days.
We posted a video of the storm as it rolled over Wellsville. The video was submitted by Brian Newark on Trapping Brook Road. The video immediately began trending. It also caught the eye of the National Weather Service for review. While it wasn't a tornado, the regional weather service employee told Mr. Newark that based on damage reports and the clear evidence from the video, it was considered a "microburst" with estimated winds up to 90 mph. So intrigued was the weather service employee, that he sought permission to add it to the National Weather Service archives. Said Mr. Newark," Never in a million years would I have expected that 2 small minutes of my life could get to get much exposure!"
