Obituary: Thelma L. Hand, 87, Belmont

Belmont -  Thelma L. Hand, 87, of State Route 244, passed away Sunday (April 9, 2017) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
Born in Greenwood, NY, February 25, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Mary Osmin Perry, she had resided in Canisteo during her early life and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1947. She later resided in Hornell where she was employed at the former Merrill Hosiery and Westinghouse in Bath. Following her marriage to Harold Hand, she moved to Belmont in 1958 where she resided the remainder of her life. She was employed for several years as an insurance clerk for the G. La Rue Sears in Belmont.
Thelma was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and the Belmont Literary and Historical Society. She enjoyed crocheting, especially clothes for Barbie Dolls, knitting, and baking, especially pies. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold Hand in 1968, her sister; Virginia France and her five brothers, Charles, Harold, Arling, Sterling and Ronald Perry.
She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Dan) Andrus of Hornell and her son Michael (Beth) Hand of Belmont, four grandchildren; Amber Andrus, Jordan Andrus, Mathew Hand and Shelby Hand, nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday,( April 12, 2017), from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave, Angelica where Funeral services will be held on Thursday, (April 13, 2017) at 11:00 AM, Rev. Leonard Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Scio.
