Olean DPW Chief leaves Olean for Allegany County

Olean Times Herald, Bob Clark
OLEAN — Tom Windus just wants to build bridges.
“If I were single, I'd be building bridges around the world,” the Olean Department of Public Works superintendent said after announcing he would step down at the end of the month for a civil engineering job with the Allegany County Department of Public Works.
Windus first joined the city in 1996 as the city’s engineer, but his position was eliminated in 1998 due to budget cuts. He later went to work for Allegany County as an engineer. In 2004, he was brought in at the retirement of Peter Marcus, the former DPW head.
In his career, Windus hasn't been afraid to speak his mind on issues. More from the Times Herald...
