LITTLE GENESEE - Dale W. Bentley, of Horse Run Road in Little Genesee, passed away Monday (April 24, 2017) in Olean General Hospital's emergency room.
He was born Aug. 31, 1937, in Olean, a son of the late Alton and Sarah Crosby Bentley. On Dec. 6, 1969, in Bolivar Methodist Church, he married Sue Shaner, who survives.
Dale was a graduate of Bolivar Central School, class of 1959, and had resided in Little Genesee since 1959. He was employed at Dresser-Rand, retiring in 1993. Dale was the town justice for Bolivar for 23 years. He served as lieutenant in the U.S. Army National Guard and later the U.S. Army Reserves for many years.
Dale was a member of New York State Magistrates Association, a member of the National Rifle Association, and a life member of the Bolivar Fire Department and its acting fire commissioner.
He was an avid hunter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kim (Don) Paffie of Lake Park, Ga., Thomas (Jamie) Bentley of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., Terry (Kelly) Bentley of Bolivar, Tony (Jane) Bentley of New Bloomfield, Pa., Karen Bentley (John Feely) Barker of Bolivar and Michael Bentley of Bolivar; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Floyd, Leonard and Leo Bentley.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (April, 27, 2017) at Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Private funeral and committal services will be held in the funeral home.

charity of the donor's choice.
