Angelica - Frances S. Guinnip, 89, of 40 Center Street, passed away peacefully Thursday (April 20, 2017) at Jones Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bradford, PA, November 28, 1927, the daughter of Michael and Ida Mae (Hanion) Sullivan, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from the Wilsonian School “Class of 1946”. On June 29, 1947 she married Howard E. Guinnip, and was predeceased by him on January 28, 2013. She had worked at ACME Electric in Cuba. Fran was very active in the community serving 80+ years as a member of the Angelica United Methodist Church, participating in many capacities of the church. She was also a former member of the Angelica Chapter #231 O.E. S., where she served in many different roles such as Past Grand Officer, and Matron. She also served as Angelica’s Tax Collector for over 25 years, and worked for the Allegany County Fair in the office and also selling ads.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Howard, her brother Albert Spangler, 2 sisters Mary Spangler Larson, and Josephine “Jody” Feldbauer.
She is survived by her 2 sons Dana (Betty) Guinnip of Angelica, Brian Guinnip of Angelica, her granddaughter Heather (Thomas) Goodwin of Bristow, VA, her 2 great grandchildren Nicole and Makayla Goodwin, her 2 brothers Ronald “Ronnie” (Carol) Spangler of TN, Richard (Shirley) Spangler of Hornell as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will be present 11a.m.-2p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Avenue in Angelica, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Stephen Crowell and Pastor David Ford officiating. Burial will be at Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
