Interstate 390 Stop Leads to Drug Charge

INTERSTATE 390:  Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Hornell man on a drug possession charge. On March 29, 2017 Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office initiative “Operation Safe Interstate” on Interstate 390.   The Deputy Sheriff stopped a vehicle for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Further investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, 24 year old Christopher Henshaw of Hornell, was allegedly in possession of over 3 ounces (105 grams) of marijuana. The driver of the car was issued a traffic ticket for the violation and Henshaw was arrested for Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Fourth Degree.
Henshaw was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Henshaw was later arraigned in the Town of Geneseo Court before Justice Houston.  The Judge remanded Henshaw to the custody of the Sheriff on $500 cash bail or $1,000 secured bond.
