Andover PD tip leads to drug arrests

INTERSTATE 390- Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of two subjects on drug charges following a tip from the Andover Police Department. On April 10, 2017 Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office initiative “Operation Safe Interstate” on Interstate 390.   The Deputy Sheriff  received information from the Andover Police Department in Allegany County that Robert Colon was possibly going to be traveling on Interstate 390 in Livingston County with drugs.  The vehicle was located on Interstate 390 by Deputy Whitford and stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The operator of the vehicle, Danette M. Wright, age 28 of Shinglehouse, PA was found to have a suspended driver’s license (two suspensions).  Wright was taken into custody for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree. Further investigation on scene revealed that Wright had allegedly put a bundle (10 bags) of heroin inside her person prior to being stopped by the Deputy.  The heroin was later recovered and seized as evidence at Central Booking by Deputy Jennifer Rice of the Sheriff’s Office Jail Division. Wright was additionally charged with the felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.  The District Attorney’s Office provided a bail recommendation of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
Colon
A passenger in the vehicle, Robert C. Colon, age 26 of Wellsville, NY, was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant, as well as cocaine allegedly in his possession. Both Wright and Colon were processed by Central Booking Deputies and held in pre-arraignment detention.  Both were later arraigned in the Town of Avon Court before Justice Piampiano.  The Judge remanded Wright to the custody of the Sheriff on $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond and Colon on $500 cash or $1,000 bond.  Assisting on scene was Deputy Connor Sanford, Deputy Brittany Smyder, Deputy Michael Wade with K-9 Hondo and Sergeant Joseph Breu.
